Disclaimer

Please Note:

As an outpatient facility, our physicians are available only for patients with a scheduled appointment, whether for a Cardiology consult, a results review, or another specific purpose. We are not a walk-in facility, and our doctors and staff are unable to take incoming calls regarding individual health needs. Once a patient has been treated, ongoing care should be continued through their family physician or referring physician.

All benefits-related forms are to be filled out by your family physician.

It is the patient’s responsibility to manage their scheduled appointments. Should you need to rebook, we require a doctor’s note (by email ONLY, do not fax) no later than 24 hours after your missed appointment.

Late arrivals will be considered missed appointments.

Patients require a referral and a scheduled appointment to be seen.

Please contact our booking team to cancel or reschedule appointments within 48 business hours (not including weekends).

If you are experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, or other symptoms of a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Alberta Cardiology does not provide emergency medical services.

Medications, Prescriptions & Refills:

As part of your care at Alberta Cardiology & Medical Consultants Inc., our physicians may prescribe medication when clinically appropriate and based on the individual needs of your care.

If you are being regularly followed by one of our physicians, that physician may continue to manage and refill medications related to your condition when clinically appropriate.

If our physician is not continuing to follow you, ongoing medication management and future refills will generally be coordinated through your family physician or other appropriate primary care provider.

Medication refills are not automatic. Depending on the medication and your medical condition, the physician may require a follow-up appointment, medical assessment, laboratory testing, diagnostic testing, or medication review before authorizing a refill.

Please do not stop, change, or adjust the dose of a prescribed medication without first speaking with an appropriate healthcare professional.

If you are unsure who should provide your next refill, please contact our office before your medication runs out. Our team will confirm the appropriate next step with your treating physician.

IMPORTANT: All prescribing and medication-renewal decisions remain at the independent clinical discretion of the treating physician and are based on the patient’s individual medical circumstances, treatment plan, applicable legislation, and professional standards.
